The Jordanian government denied today (Sunday) the evacuation of the international airport and seaport in the coastal city of Aqaba in the south of the country, affirming that they are operating normally.

The official government spokesman, Mohammad Al-Momani, told the Jordan News Agency: "The relevant authorities have not issued any evacuation decisions at Aqaba Airport or the port."

Dealing with the missile crash site and securing it in accordance with standard technical and security procedures.

He added that Aqaba Airport and the port are operating normally, and that no potential threats have been recorded by the relevant Jordanian authorities in the past hours.

This statement came in response to an earlier announcement today by the US Embassy in Amman, which stated that the Jordanian authorities had evacuated the international airport and port in Aqaba based on a threat.

Later this afternoon, the Jordanian army announced that air defense systems intercepted and shot down three Iranian missiles out of four that targeted the kingdom's territory, while the fourth missile fell in a remote area in southern Jordan far from population centers.

A responsible military source in the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces confirmed that the incident did not result in any human casualties or material damage, stressing that Royal Engineering Corps teams began handling the missile crash site and securing it in accordance with standard technical and security procedures.

The source pointed out that the Jordanian Armed Forces continue to monitor the kingdom's airspace with the highest state of readiness, and will deal firmly with any threat targeting the security of the kingdom and the safety of its citizens.
