Kingdom: Iran's targeting of Saudi and Qatari tankers an assault on international navigation security
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its strongest condemnation of Iran's targeting of the Saudi tanker (Wadiyan) while it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz, and the targeting of the Qatari tanker (Al-Rukiyat), stressing that these unacceptable violations are an assault on the security and safety of international navigation and on global energy supply security.
The ministry said in a statement: "The Kingdom affirms that Iran's continued perpetration of these attacks constitutes a grave violation of international law and norms, and of Security Council Resolution 2817, which guarantees freedom of maritime navigation and safe passage through sea lanes. It stresses its demand for Iran to immediately cease all actions that threaten regional security, the safety of international navigation, and energy supplies, and affirms holding Iran fully responsible for these attacks, their damage, and all their consequences."
