The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait summoned today the Iranian Ambassador to Kuwait, Mohammad Tutunchi, to hand him a protest note over his country's targeting of the Kuwaiti tanker (Kevan) yesterday while it was passing through the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in injuries to a number of its crew members. Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister Hamad Al-Meshan affirmed - according to a statement by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs - that this blatant aggression comes amid the escalating sinful aggression launched by Iran against the State of Kuwait since February 28, 2026, including inciting and provocative statements issued by the Iranian side, and constitutes a flagrant violation of Kuwait's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and interests, a threat to the security and freedom of international navigation, and a breach of international law, the Charter of the United Nations, and Security Council Resolution 2817 of 2026. Al-Meshan reiterated - as reported by the Kuwait News Agency - Kuwait's demand for Iran to immediately cease its unlawful attacks, stressing that Kuwait retains its right to take necessary measures and hold Iran fully responsible for this aggression and its ongoing assault on Kuwait.
