  Large numbers of Israeli police and military personnel have encircled Tal and Nablus, imposing a siege that prevents access to the village and surrounding areas.

  Now, we’re talking about a siege, but we’re also talking about expected settler attacks, not just in Tal, but in the surrounding villages.

  We’ve been seeing settlers on our way here gathering in what we usually see following any incident. We see settlers attacking Palestinians, although Palestinians will tell you that Israeli settlers do not need an excuse to start attacking Palestinian homes and villages, and in fact we’ve been seeing these settler attacks on the rise.

  Palestinian residents of Tal report that the settlers initiated the shooting, targeting civilians in the area.

  But according to Israeli forces, they say it was an attack on Israeli hikers who were in the area.

  Based on years of covering such incidents, it is clear that settlers often arrive not merely to provoke, but also to survey land for the expansion of illegal outposts.

  Now, according to the Israeli narrative, they say that one Palestinian managed to take the weapon of some of the Israeli guards who were there to protect some of the Israeli settlers, and that’s when the tension escalated further. But according to Palestinians, it was the settlers who started by opening fire and attacking Palestinians.

  The city’s municipality has issued this update on its Facebook account.

  “The Israeli occupation authorities have issued a new military order to seize lands north of the city of Bir al-Bireh, including the lands of Bir al-Bireh located west of the town of Beitin and the eastern villages: Ayn Yabroud and Dura al-Qura, under the pretext of ‘military purposes’.”

  The area to be seized is equal to 41.8 dunams, (41,800 square metres). The order will remain in effect until 31/12/2028.

  Israeli rights groups warn of ‘mass pogroms’ in occupied West Bank

  Israeli-Palestinian human rights group B’Tselem and 19 other Israeli human rights organisations have issued an urgent appeal to the international community to take immediate action to stop escalating violence by settler militias and the Israeli military in the occupied West Bank.

  The coalition warned that calls for revenge by Israeli ministers and lawmakers — after the deadly shootout in the village of Tal that left at least four Palestinians and two Israelis dead — could quickly escalate into “mass pogroms.”

  The rights groups condemned the global community’s “silence and inaction” in the face of the torching of Palestinian property and forced expulsions, demanding immediate pressure on Israel to protect Palestinian lives in accordance with international law.

  Israeli NGO condemns military raid on Nablus hospital

  Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHRI) has condemned an Israeli military raid on the Nablus Specialised Hospital in the occupied West Bank in a post on X.

  The medical rights group warned that the military raid, coupled with widespread road closures following deadly violence in the area, is blocking ambulances and preventing emergency teams from reaching patients.

  PHRI described the escalating military restrictions and settler violence as a form of “collective punishment,” urging immediate international action to ensure emergency medical teams can operate and move freely.

  “This morning, a woman in labor could not reach the hospital and gave birth in her village without the proper medical care needed,” the statement added.

  “This is not happening in isolation. Settler violence has intensified with the backing and protection of the Israeli military and State. The international community bears responsibility for years of impunity toward Israeli atrocities as alarms regarding the West Bank have gone unheeded,” it added.

  Hamas West Bank chief vows resistance, urges boycott of Israel

  Zaher Jabarin, the Hamas chief in the occupied West Bank, says Palestinian bloodshed in Gaza and the West Bank “will not go in vain”, stressing that resistance against the Israeli occupation will continue.

  Palestinians will not submit to what he described as the “organised terrorism” sponsored by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, local Palestinian news sources reported.

  Israel pushing West Bank towards explosion, says Jordan FM

  The Israeli government “is pushing the West Bank towards explosion”, says Jordan’s Foreign Minister, Ayman Safadi.

  “Its blatant violations of the historical and legal status quo at Jerusalem’s Holy Sites are illegal and dangerous provocations,” he posted on X.

  “They are pushing the region towards another disastrous conflict that will reverberate beyond the occupied Palestinian territories. The international community must act effectively and quickly against these Israeli measures before it is too late.”
