The Yemen Minesweeping Project (Masam) carried out a destruction operation of 4,573 pieces of unexploded war remnants in the Wadi Dofs area of Abyan Governorate.

The materials destroyed included 321 various shells, 3,465 various rounds, 41 anti-personnel mines, 11 anti-tank mines, 31 various hand grenades, two heat rockets, 15 explosive devices, 322 solid arrows, 333 various fuses, and 32 boxes of propellant charges, totaling 4,573 pieces of war remnants.

In a special statement to Masam's media office, the leader of the first special tasks team, Engineer Munther Qasim, explained that the war remnants that were destroyed were collected from three governorates: Aden, Abyan, and Lahj, as part of the team's work to secure areas and clear them of unexploded war remnants.

He pointed out that part of the remnants destroyed today were collected from the Salah al-Din area in the Buraiqeh district of the capital Aden, following instructions from the Masam project operations room to respond to a plea made by residents of the area after a video clip was published showing the presence of unexploded war remnants among citizens' homes. The team proceeded to the site, handled the remnants, collected them, and transported them to the designated destruction site for safe disposal.

Engineer Qasim added that the Wadi Dofs site is considered a safe and approved site by Masam project experts for carrying out destruction operations, ensuring the disposal of unexploded war remnants in accordance with approved safety procedures.

He warned that war remnants still pose a direct threat to civilian lives, noting that tampering with or approaching suspicious objects could lead to tragic accidents, especially among children and women, calling on citizens not to handle them and to inform the relevant authorities upon finding any object suspected of being war remnants.
