JERUSALEM (AA)

Hebrew media announced Wednesday the death of an Israeli man from injuries sustained by shrapnel from an Iranian rocket three months ago.

The Israeli army radio said: 'Michael Katz, 82, from Haifa, who was seriously injured by an Iranian rocket during Operation Lion's Roar (the war on Iran) three months ago, died from his wounds.'

Meanwhile, Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Katz was seriously injured by a direct Iranian ballistic missile strike on a building in Haifa on April 5 of last year.

It noted that he was a former employee of the Israeli weapons development and production company Rafael.

A number of Israelis were killed and dozens were injured as a result of falling rockets or shrapnel from rockets launched from Iran during the Israeli-American war on Iran that began on February 28.

Iran and the United States had announced on June 14, 2026, through a negotiation track mediated by Pakistan, reaching a 14-point agreement stipulating a ceasefire and settlement of disputes between the two sides through negotiations.

The agreement, known as the 'Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding,' came into effect on June 18, 2026, after being signed electronically by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump.

However, U.S. President Donald Trump announced on July 8 of this month the end of the ceasefire due to renewed escalation, and military confrontation between the United States and Iran resumed days ago.
