Political analyst Tarek al-Shami said that we will witness an expansion of strikes on Iran in response to the killing of US soldiers.

Al-Shami added, in an interview on "Arabic FM", that US President Donald Trump will take into account the death toll of US forces in the region in confronting Iran.

He continued, it has been rumored that the United States is prepared to launch further strikes on Iran to seize some Iranian islands and coastline, but the US president may hesitate after the killing of a number of US soldiers.

Al-Shami added that Trump's hesitation does not mean that the US air campaign against Iran will stop but rather its pace will increase with a kind of retaliation with greater military force and expansion of the scope of US strikes.

The political analyst continued, it is not unlikely that Trump will order the destruction of Iran's Mount Falk facility, which is believed to house nuclear activities deep inside, although US strikes may try to close the entrances of that facility, noting that the United States intends to achieve more regarding reducing Iran's ability to control the Strait of Hormuz.

He continued, the United States continues to pursue its goals to prevent Iran from controlling the Strait of Hormuz, but targeting a US base in Jordan with a missile carrying maneuvering capabilities prompts the United States to be more cautious in neutralizing Iranian military efforts by destroying wider facilities and infrastructure as a form of punishment against the Iranians, especially since Washington has strengthened its defenses in Jordan and elsewhere with various aircraft to target maneuvering-capable missiles.
