The State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the statements made by the so-called military spokesman of the terrorist Houthi militia, in which they accused the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia of imposing a siege on the Yemeni people and banning maritime navigation on them.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement issued today, called on the international community to assume its responsibilities towards implementing the relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost of which are Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on the rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

The State of Qatar affirmed that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a fundamental principle of international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982, stressing the need for all parties to respect this principle.

Qatar renewed its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty and security, affirming that the security of the Kingdom is an integral part of the security of the State of Qatar and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
