An Israeli force on Wednesday detained a Syrian youth for hours before releasing him during a new incursion into Quneitra province in southwestern Syria.

Syria's state news agency SANA reported that 'Israeli occupation forces entered the village of Al-Muallaqa in the southern countryside of Quneitra on Wednesday.'

It added that 'an occupation force set up a temporary checkpoint in the village, searched passersby, and detained a person before withdrawing from the area, and released him hours later.'

It noted that 'occupation forces had entered the villages of Maariyah in the western countryside of Daraa and Al-Bassali in the southern countryside of Quneitra yesterday.'

There was no immediate comment from the Syrian side on the incident, which comes amid ongoing Israeli violations of Syria's sovereignty.

Areas in southern Syria have witnessed repeated Israeli incursions and attacks for months, including raids, searches, arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints.

These movements escalated after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, Israel's declaration of the collapse of the 1974 disengagement agreement, and its seizure of the Syrian buffer zone.
