Syria's Interior Ministry announced that internal security forces have seized a warehouse containing explosives and improvised explosive devices belonging to the cell involved in the July 7 bombings that targeted the capital Damascus.

This came following investigations with members of the cell who were arrested.

In a statement, the ministry clarified that intensive investigations led to the discovery of a secret hideout used by the cell to store explosives in preparation for a series of terrorist attacks, noting that internal security forces carried out a precise raid on the location following confessions from cell members, where a number of explosive devices were seized, and engineering teams managed to dismantle, neutralize, and safely destroy them according to approved technical procedures.

The ministry confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover any other hideouts linked to the cell and to complete procedures against all those involved.

Earlier, Syrian Interior Minister Anas Khattab had announced that the cell responsible for the July 7 bombings was in the custody of security agencies, stressing that after the completion of investigations, the identities of the cell members, their roles, and all their connections will be revealed to the public.

On July 7, the Syrian capital Damascus witnessed bombings targeting several sites, resulting in deaths, injuries, and material damage, prompting security agencies to launch wide-ranging investigations to track down those responsible for the attacks. The Interior Ministry says the investigations led to dismantling the executing cell and seizing an explosives warehouse it used to prepare for additional attacks, while investigations continue to uncover all those involved and the cell's extensions.
