Syrian Interior Ministry: Cell Affiliated with ISIS Responsible for July 7 Bombings in Damascus
The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced that the results of investigations with members of the terrorist cell recently arrested, supported by analysis of surveillance camera footage and confessions of detainees, proved their responsibility for the terrorist bombing that was carried out on July 7.
The ministry explained, via its Telegram channel on Monday, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA), that the investigations proved the affiliation of the detainees Diya Shaker al-Qasim, Abdullah Younes al-Jubouri, and Muhammad Asaad Muhammad to the ISIS terrorist organization, and their involvement in planning to carry out terrorist acts aimed at undermining security and stability and causing chaos among citizens.
The Syrian Interior Ministry confirmed that investigations are still ongoing to uncover all those involved and cooperating with the cell, in preparation for referring them to the competent judiciary and taking necessary legal measures against them.
It stressed that it will deal firmly with anyone proven to be involved in any terrorist act, whether by planning, support, or execution, affirming that the arm of justice will reach all those involved, and there will be no leniency or impunity.
Interior Minister Anas Khattab had announced last Thursday the arrest of the cell responsible for the terrorist bombings that targeted Damascus on the seventh of this month, which coincided with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron to Damascus.
