Damascus - SANA:
A source in the Ministry of Interior told SANA that a former official responsible for sarin gas warehouses and chemical manufacturing during the former regime was arrested in Lattakia province.
In a special security operation, Syrian forces arrested Colonel Ahmad Habib Ali, a chemical weapons specialist from Harf al-Masyatira in the Qardaha countryside, who served as head of the Center for Scientific Studies and Research and was responsible for sarin gas warehouses and chemical manufacturing in Unit 417.
According to preliminary investigations, the accused is one of the officers who supervised the manufacture of about twenty sarin gas bombs, each weighing 250 kg, used in attacks targeting Syrian cities and towns during 2013 and 2017.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover and document all crimes attributed to him, pending his referral to the competent judiciary for legal action.
