The Ukrainian army said it struck 21 Russian tankers with drones in the Sea of Azov overnight, as part of a campaign to cut fuel supplies to Moscow's forces in occupied parts of Ukraine.

In a statement on Saturday, it said it also targeted four sea tugs, two cargo ships, and a dredger used to supply military forces with logistics and support port infrastructure.

Two sources in the grain export sector said Russia temporarily halted navigation through the Don-Azov canal, the waterway linking the Don River to the Sea of Azov.

This decision followed a Ukrainian attack on Friday on 13 Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov, including ten oil tankers. Experts estimated that the attack could affect about a quarter of Russian wheat exports shipped via the Sea of Azov.
