The US Army said it launched a new wave of airstrikes against Iran at 6 a.m. Eastern Time (10 a.m. GMT) on Wednesday.

The strikes aim to continue weakening Iran's capabilities to stop it from attacking commercial ships.

The US Central Command said in a statement on platform X: "The strikes aim to continue weakening the military capabilities used by Iranian forces to attack commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz."

The United States had earlier announced launching military strikes on Iran for the fourth consecutive day, in a step aimed at weakening its capabilities used to target commercial ships. Washington is preparing to reactivate its naval blockade of Iranian ports.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated in a post on platform X that these strikes aim to undermine Iranian capabilities used to attack commercial ships in the strategic Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM reported that these measures come in the context of US forces preparing to reactivate a comprehensive naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas, indicating a potential escalation in military and economic pressures.
