US Army: Two American soldiers killed and third missing while repelling Iranian attacks on Jordan

The US Army announced Saturday the killing of two American soldiers and the loss of a third, recording the first casualties among US forces in the war with Iran since last March.

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a post on social media: "On July 17, two American soldiers were killed in Jordan while US Central Command (CENTCOM) and partner forces were repelling Iranian attacks with ballistic missiles and drones. A third soldier is also missing."

The US Central Command reported that four other American soldiers were evacuated to hospitals in Jordan for treatment, and later left. Others suffered minor injuries and returned to duty.

The US Central Command announced that it would withhold the identities of the fallen soldiers for 24 hours after notifying their families.
