Iranian media reported on Thursday that sites near Qeshm Island and Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, were hit by US strikes, the latest development in the military escalation between Washington and Tehran.

Tasnim news agency reported that sites near Qeshm Island were 'bombarded by US projectiles,' according to its correspondent, while Mehr news agency said the projectiles hit sites near Qeshm Island at 18:10 local time, noting that authorities would announce a detailed report after completing initial assessments, without disclosing the extent of damage or casualties.

For its part, Iran's Fars news agency indicated that US missiles hit sites near Bandar Abbas.

The strikes came hours after US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced the completion of the latest wave of military operations against Iran, following directives from US President Donald Trump.

CENTCOM said the strikes targeted Iranian command centers, air defense systems, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities in several locations, including the city of Bandar Abbas, which hosts Iran's largest port and key naval and Revolutionary Guard bases on the Strait of Hormuz.
