Yemeni parties authorize 'legitimacy' with all options to deter Houthi
The National Coalition of Yemeni Political Parties and Components announced today (Monday) its full and unconditional alignment behind the political leadership and the armed forces, holding the Houthis and Iran responsible for the dangerous escalation.
The coalition, in a statement, denounced the flagrant violations of Yemen's sovereignty, stating they are a blatant challenge to the constitution, legitimacy, and UN Security Council resolutions, and a disregard for all regional and international efforts aimed at achieving peace.
The coalition absolutely and permanently endorsed the two statements issued by the Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Dr. Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, affirming its unlimited support for all measures and steps taken or to be taken by the Leadership Council and the legitimate government in defense of national sovereignty, and authorizing the political and military leadership to take all options to deter the militia, including the military option to restore state institutions and end the brutal Houthi coup.
The coalition commended the courageous stances of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense, praising the high combat readiness, efficiency, and capability demonstrated by the armed forces and security agencies in confronting any aggression targeting Yemen's sovereignty, airspace, airports, and ports.
The statement stressed the constitutional and legal right guaranteed under UN charters for the Yemeni army to defend the nation's borders and protect its resources.
The joint statement held the Iranian regime and its terrorist militias fully responsible for the consequences of this systematic escalation, warning that the militia's continued transformation of Yemeni lands, airspace, airports, and ports into platforms to serve the expansionist agenda of the mullahs not only poses a danger to Yemen, but extends to undermine Arab national security and regional security, and threatens the safety and freedom of international navigation in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.
The coalition addressed a responsible reassurance message to the steadfast Yemeni people in the kidnapped capital Sana'a and other areas under the control of the terrorist militia, affirming that the firm decisions and measures taken by the legitimate government are not directed against them in any way, but rather strive to protect them from the reckless adventures of the militia that uses them as human shields to serve Iranian interests.
The statement, in addressing the Yemeni people, emphasized that they are an integral part of the national fabric and the state is committed to caring for them and alleviating their suffering.
The National Coalition of Yemeni Parties called on the UN Security Council, the United Nations, and the states sponsoring the political process to move beyond the 'concern and condemnation' phase and immediately transition to the 'deterrence and accountability' phase, demanding strict implementation of relevant international resolutions, foremost among them Resolutions 2140 and 2216, and activation of the international sanctions regime against Tehran and its terrorist proxies in the region.
The coalition concluded its statement by affirming that the battle to restore the state and reestablish security and stability is a comprehensive sovereign battle that concerns all free Yemenis and is not exclusive to any particular faction or component, calling on all forces and components to unite and align behind the legitimate constitutional government to ensure the defeat of the coup and the return of Yemen as a dignified, Arab, and unified nation under the umbrella of order, law, and the authority and influence of the state over the entire Yemeni territory.
