The French national football team repeated its 2-0 victory over Morocco in the World Cup, but this time in the quarter-finals rather than the semi-finals, as in 'Qatar 2022', and with a different set of players alongside some constants, the same being true for the 'Atlas Lions'. Les Bleus reached the semi-finals on Thursday evening after defeating the players of Moroccan coach Mohamed Ouhibi 2-0 at Boston Stadium in Massachusetts, USA. Star Kylian Mbappe scored the first goal, and his teammate Ousmane Dembele added the second. Thus, French coach Didier Deschamps advanced to the World Cup semi-finals for the third consecutive time, an unprecedented French achievement. Deschamps fielded only three of the 13 players he used against the 'Atlas Lions' in the 2022 semi-final: Mbappe, Dembele, and defender Jules Kounde. The 2018 World Cup-winning coach relied on different names in Boston, such as winger Michael Olise and midfielder Kouadio Koné. He kept on the bench four players who participated in the previous semi-final: midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, forward Marcus Thuram, defender Ibrahima Konaté, and Theo Hernandez, the left-back of Saudi Al-Hilal who scored the first goal that day. The second goal was added by forward Randal Kolo Muani, who was absent from the France squad in America. The French advanced to the semi-finals of the current edition after fielding 15 players against Morocco, including 10 who were not in the previous World Cup squad. Two of the participants remained on the bench until the end against the version of the 'Lions' led by coach Walid Regragui: defenders Dayot Upamecano and William Saliba. In that match, held at Qatar's Al Bayt Stadium, Regragui used 16 players, of whom Ouhibi fielded five in the Boston match: Yassine Bounou, goalkeeper of Saudi Al-Hilal, full-backs Achraf Hakimi and Noussair Mazraoui, Sofyan Amrabat, and Azzedine Ounahi. Bilal El Khannouss was a substitute in the match between the two teams in Qatar but started on Thursday. In both matches, goalkeepers Munir El Kajoui and Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti sat on the bench behind Bounou. Except for these eight names, Ouhibi called up for the tournament players who were absent from his predecessor Regragui's World Cup squad.
