4 Barcelona Stars Oppose Alvarez Transfer
The debate continues regarding the potential transfer of Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez to Barcelona.
Catalan newspaper El Nacional indicated that there is a faction within the Catalan club that prefers to keep things as they are, claiming that a number of Barcelona stars do not welcome the signing of the Argentine striker.
This contrasts sharply with a report by Catalan newspaper Sport in late June, which suggested that Barcelona players were happy to sign Julian Alvarez and that he would be a strong technical addition to the team.
But El Nacional revealed that there are four players in the Barcelona squad who are not enthusiastic about this deal.
It explained that the first of these players is Ferran Torres, who sees himself capable of being the main striker, adding that the Spanish striker feels undervalued and is therefore considering a move to French side Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
It pointed out that the list of opponents also includes midfield duo Gavi and Pedri, who are close to Ferran Torres.
It mentioned that Brazilian star Raphinha of Barcelona leans towards being satisfied with signing the duo Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, and that there is no need to spend 150 million euros to sign Alvarez.
The newspaper noted that Raphinha's opinion also aligns with the direction of Deco, the club's sporting director, and Hansi Flick, the team's coach, regarding the need to move towards cheaper deals.
It concluded its report by stating that Barcelona president Joan Laporta does not see it that way, but rather considers the signing of Julian Alvarez a top priority.
