Algerian defender Aissa Mandi announced his retirement from international football on Wednesday, ending a career that spanned nearly 12 years with the Algerian national team.

Mandi, who recently joined Spanish club Levante, posted a video message on his Facebook account saying that the time had come to say goodbye to the national team, expressing his pride in wearing the 'Greens' shirt and playing 123 international matches, a record in the history of the Algerian national team.

During his international career, Mandi scored eight goals, contributed to Algeria's triumph in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, and also participated in the 2014 and 2026 World Cup finals.

The 34-year-old player confirmed that he leaves the national team 'with a clear conscience,' noting that he gave his all and spared no effort throughout the years he represented his country, thanking the fans, his teammates, and all the technical and administrative staff.

The retirement announcement comes days after Mandi moved to Spanish Levante on a contract running until June 2028, coming from French side Lille, as he prepares for a new challenge in La Liga.
