After Bukhari, Al-Diriyah signs World Cup goalkeeper to Saudi League
بعد يوم واحد من ضم الحارس أمين البخاري، أعلن نادي الدرعية السعودي تعاقده مع حارس منتخب البوسنة نيكولا فاسيلي، الذي شارك في مونديال 2026، في صفقة انتقال حر.
Al-Diriyah Club announced the signing of a new goalkeeper, who played in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, despite having previously signed a goalkeeper, Amin Bukhari.
Al-Diriyah Club had announced last Thursday the signing of goalkeeper Amin Bukhari on a free transfer after the end of his contract with his previous club, Al-Fateh.
About 24 hours later, Al-Diriyah Club announced via its official account on "X" the signing of a new goalkeeper, Bosnian Nikola Vasilj, on a free transfer after the end of his contract with his previous German club, St. Pauli.
Vasilj becomes the fifth signing for Al-Diriyah during the current summer transfer window, after Amin Bukhari from Al-Fateh, Saeed Al-Rubaie from Al-Okhdood, Hattan Bahebri from Al-Kholood, and Senegalese Clayton Diandy from Greek club Aris Thessaloniki.
Vasilj has a distinguished career, having played for several Bosnian clubs before moving to German side Nuremberg, Ukrainian side Zorya Luhansk, and finally St. Pauli, which he led to promotion to the German Bundesliga.
The 30-year-old was also the starting goalkeeper for the Bosnian national team in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, leading them to qualify for the Round of 32, but his net conceded 8 goals in 4 matches, at an average of two goals per match.
