Diriyah Club announced the signing of a new goalkeeper who participated in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, despite having previously signed a goalkeeper, Amin Bukhari.

Diriyah Club had announced last Thursday the signing of goalkeeper Amin Bukhari on a free transfer after the end of his contract with his former club Al-Fateh.

After about 24 hours, Diriyah Club announced via its official account on X that it had signed a new goalkeeper, Bosnian Nikola Vasilj, on a free transfer after the end of his contract with his former German club St. Pauli.

Vasilj becomes Diriyah's fifth signing during the current summer transfer window, after Amin Bukhari from Al-Fateh, Saeed Al-Rubaie from Al-Okhdood, Hattan Bahebri from Al-Khulood, and Senegalese Clayton Diandy from Greek club Aris Thessaloniki.

Vasilj has a distinguished career, having played for several Bosnian clubs before moving to Germany's Nuremberg, Ukraine's Zorya Luhansk, and finally St. Pauli, which he led to promotion to the German Bundesliga.

The 30-year-old was also the starting goalkeeper for the Bosnia national team in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and led them to qualify for the round of 32, but his net conceded 8 goals in 4 matches, an average of two goals per game.
