The English Football Association has decided the fate of its German coach Thomas Tuchel after the heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Argentina on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

England was leading with a goal scored by Anthony Gordon (55') until the final minutes, before Argentina turned the tables with two goals in stoppage time through Enzo Fernández (85') and Lautaro Martínez (90+2').

Tuchel faced widespread media and fan criticism for conceding two goals in the final minutes, which dashed the Three Lions' hopes of reaching the World Cup final for the first time since 1966.

The England national team will face France early next Sunday to determine the third-place finisher, while Argentina advanced to face Spain in the final.

According to the English newspaper Daily Mail, Thomas Tuchel still enjoys the support of the English Football Association despite England's disappointing exit from the World Cup.

Some questioned whether the German, who has a contract to lead England in the 2028 European Championship, now faces a battle to save his job under the extremely painful defeat circumstances.

But the English FA still has full confidence in the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich coach, and he will continue in his position if he wishes.

For his part, Tuchel confirmed after the Argentina match his desire to lead the England national team to the European Championship in two years, after extending his contract last February.
