Al Ahli lose friendly to Holstein Kiel 4-1
Al Ahli's first football team lost 4-1 to Holstein Kiel, who play in the German second division, on Wednesday in their second friendly of their Austria training camp, as they prepare for the 2026-2027 season.
Ricardo Matias scored Al Ahli's only goal in the 21st minute.
Al Ahli opened their friendlies with a big 8-0 win over Austrian side Pinzgau Saalfelden.
Today's match gave the coaching staff the opportunity to field a large number of players and assess their physical and technical readiness before entering tougher tests.
Al Ahli continue their preparation program with five more friendlies: they will face Portuguese side Rio Ave next Sunday, then Portuguese side Vitória Guimarães on July 24, followed by two matches against Portuguese side Portimonense and English side Fulham, before concluding with a match against Abha on August 6, as the final test before the new season.
The coaching staff, led by Jaissle, aims to use the remaining matches to improve physical levels, enhance harmony among players, implement tactical aspects, and determine the ideal lineup that the team will rely on in domestic and continental competitions next season.
