Al-Diriyah's management has agreed with Senegalese international Idrissa Gueye to represent its first football team in the Saudi Roshn League for one season, according to a source close to Al-Riyadiya. The same source indicated that Al-Diriyah will sign the defensive midfielder (aged 36) on a free transfer following the end of his contract with English Everton in July 2026.
Gueye began his professional career at French club Lille before moving to the English Premier League with Aston Villa and Everton. He moved to Paris Saint-Germain from 2019 to 2022, winning the domestic treble with the French giants and reaching the 2020 UEFA Champions League final with them.
After his stint in Paris, Gueye returned to Everton in 2022 and stayed with them until the end of his contract this summer. In total, he has played 569 matches in his career so far, scoring 24 goals and providing 23 assists. Internationally, Gueye has played 135 matches for his country, scoring 7 goals, and was present at the last World Cup in North America.
