Vasili: Al-Diriyah's First Foreign Signing
Al-Diriyah Club signed Bosnian international goalkeeper Nikola Vasili to bolster the first football team for the new season, as announced in the early hours of Saturday. The club posted a poster of the player on its official account on platform 'X' highlighting his career achievements, including winning the Bosnian league three times and promotion with St. Pauli to the German league. Vasili (30 years old) became Al-Diriyah's first foreign signing since their recent promotion to the Saudi Roshan League during the summer transfer window. Al-Riyadiyah headlined on July 11: 'Vasili protects Al-Diriyah's goal in Roshan', and reported, citing the account 'Al-Riyadiyah - Breaking News', that the Bosnian goalkeeper signed a two-year contract with Al-Diriyah after passing a medical examination in the German city of Hamburg. Vasili was included in the Bosnian national team squad for the 2026 World Cup, playing in all four matches, conceding 8 goals and keeping no clean sheets in the tournament, where his country was eliminated in the round of 32. Vasili's career began at Bosnian club Zrinjski Mostar, before stints with several clubs in his country, then German side Nürnberg II, Ukrainian club Zorya Luhansk, and since 2021 settled at German club St. Pauli, where he established himself as the starting goalkeeper and contributed to the team's promotion to the Bundesliga. Internationally, Vasili progressed through all youth levels of his country's national team until reaching the senior team in 2021.
