Al Ahli Announces Suspension of First Team Activities in Basketball and Handball
Al Ahli Club announced the launch of a comprehensive transformation program for various sports, to be implemented starting from the 2026-2027 sports season, in a step aimed at developing the sports sector and enhancing the club's competitiveness according to a long-term vision.
The club clarified in an official statement that the program is based on building a sustainable sports system, with a focus on preparing national talents, contributing to achieving future successes and enhancing Al Ahli's standing in various sports.
The statement confirmed that the men's volleyball team will continue its activities at the first team level and all age groups, while it was decided to suspend the men's first team activities in basketball and handball, with age groups continuing in both sports, as part of the restructuring of various games.
Al Ahli indicated that it will announce in the coming weeks a number of new partnerships aimed at reactivating individual sports, including martial arts, tennis, swimming, and gymnastics, with the aim of expanding the base of sports participation and enhancing community members' presence in sports activities.
The club also revealed that it is close to finalizing a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education to provide after-school sports programs in several neighborhoods of Jeddah, including basketball, handball, and volleyball, as part of its efforts to discover and refine national talents and establish a culture of sports practice within society.
Al Ahli concluded its statement by affirming its commitment to working according to the highest standards of transparency and responsibility, stressing that the decisions taken stem from the club's interest and represent a step towards building a stronger and more sustainable system, paving the way for achieving further achievements in the coming years.
