First Friendly: Al-Ahli Display Eight Goals in Rout
Al-Ahli first football team crushed its Austrian counterpart Pinzgau Saalfelden 8-0 on Saturday in its first friendly during its ongoing camp in Saalfelden as part of preparations for the new season. The goals were shared by Brazilian Ricardo Matias (two), Moussa Aboubakar (two), Armenian Eduard Sebritsyants, Saleh Abu Al-Hamamat, Mishal Al-Otaibi, and Yassin Al-Zubaidi. German coach Matthias Jaissle started the match with a starting lineup comprising: Salman Al-Jadaani in goal, Zakaria Hawsawi, Belgian Matthieu Dams, Mohammed Suleiman, Mohammed Abdul Rahman, French Valentin Atangana, and his compatriot Enzo Miao, Saleh Abu Al-Hamamat, Armenian Eduard Sebritsyants, Brazilian Mateus Gonçalves, and his compatriot Ricardo Matias. The substitutes list consisted of: Ali Bakhshween as goalkeeper, Sami Al-Harbi, Osama Al-Daghma, Ryan Hamed, Wael Al-Juhani, Saad Balbeed, Ziad Mulla, Faisal Fallatah, Ibrahim Azzam, Salem Abdullah, Yassin Al-Zubaidi, Mishal Al-Mutairi, Moussa Aboubakar. In the second half, Jaissle made several changes, most notably the introduction of Mishal Al-Mutairi, Yassin Al-Zubaidi, and Moussa Aboubakar, who scored four goals including two by Moussa. Al-Ahli has one remaining friendly in Austria, against Holstein Kiel of Germany on July 15, after which they will leave for Portugal to begin a second phase of the camp lasting until the 28th of this month, featuring four friendly matches against Rio Ave, Vitória Guimarães, Portimonense, and Fulham. Al-Ahli team is preparing for a season full of local, continental, and international challenges. Domestically, they will compete in the Saudi Roshn League, the King's Cup, and the Saudi Super Cup. Externally, they will participate in the AFC Champions League Elite, in addition to the 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup.
