Argentina's President Javier Milei stated that people are 'jealous' of his country because it excels in almost everything, despite the controversial reactions following the Argentine team's loss to Spain in the World Cup final.

Milei found himself in an embarrassing situation last Monday after mistakenly publishing a pre-scheduled tweet celebrating Argentina's victory and declaring a national holiday, which the Argentine people will not receive now.

The Daily Mail published the Argentine president's statements, which he made to LN+: 'The problem with Argentina is that we are eye-catching, we cannot be ignored, and people are jealous of us. We excel in almost everything... I'm sorry, but someone had to say it.'

Milei was very outspoken following Argentina's 0-1 loss to Spain, insisting that the refereeing decisions went against his country's team, even though Argentina only managed two shots throughout the match.

This view contradicts the prevailing impression throughout the tournament, which considered that Argentina benefited from several refereeing decisions.

Milei added: 'The match was very difficult for us on Sunday, yet Argentina could have equalized in the final minutes, even though the flow of the game was not in its favor at all.'

He continued: 'Argentina always took balanced positions and behaved in a disciplined manner throughout the tournament, even in moments when referees made wrong decisions against the team in some matches. The team's reaction was always balanced and organized, characterized by fighting until the end.'
