2026 World Cup.. Mbappe bidding farewell to Deschamps: We should have given you a better ending
French captain Kylian Mbappe on Saturday sent an emotional message to coach Didier Deschamps, who will lead the 'Roosters' for the last time after 14 years at the helm, during the third-place match of the 2026 World Cup against England.
Mbappe wrote on his social media accounts addressing his coach: 'Today is your last dance. You gave us so much, and we should have given you a better ending, but we failed.'

He added: 'It is very difficult for me to find words to describe what you have given in 14 years. You were one of the key architects of this team's resurgence. Not everyone always realized your greatness, but time and history will take care of that.' Mbappe's words referred to the criticism Deschamps faced over the years for the defensive and conservative style he adopted with the French team.
The Real Madrid striker also made sure to send a personal message to his coach, saying: 'I thank you for giving me the opportunity and the honor of representing my country on the biggest stages all these years.'
He continued: 'I feel lucky to have had the chance to work alongside one of the greatest legends of our country, and I will only keep wonderful memories of everything we lived and achieved together.'
The French team had lost 2-0 to Spain in the semi-finals, while England fell 2-1 to Argentina, so the two teams met in the third-place match at Miami stadium.
