Jeddah - Al Jazeera:

Al-Ittihad team left on Tuesday morning for the Spanish city of Marbella to hold a preparatory camp that lasts for two weeks, in preparation for the new sports season.

The German coach of the team, Jens Biesing, led the first training session immediately after the arrival of the Al-Ittihad delegation to the camp headquarters, and the team will start from today, Wednesday, implementing an intensive training program that extends over two periods, morning and evening, with the aim of raising the fitness and technical levels of the players.

Midfielder Mohamed Doumbia accompanied the Al-Ittihad delegation, as he continues his treatment and rehabilitation program after undergoing knee cruciate ligament surgery at the end of last season. He will complete his rehabilitation under the supervision of the technical and medical staff, with expectations indicating that the player will need nearly three months before returning to participate in official matches.

Al-Ittihad will play its first friendly match on July 21 against the South African league champion, at the camp stadiums in Marbella.

The coach of Al-Ittihad, 'Biesing', aims to use the camp period to evaluate all elements of the team, especially the foreign players, before making his final decision on the names that will be dispensed with, in preparation for contracting with new professionals according to the team's needs.

In a related context, Al-Ittihad management continues its moves to strengthen the team's ranks before the start of the new season, as negotiations are still ongoing with Al-Ettifaq Club to contract with player Khaled Al-Ghannam, along with working to include a foreign pivot player to compensate for the departure of Brazilian Fabinho, while Mohamed Doumbia remains absent until his rehabilitation program is completed.
