Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn, of Al-Ittihad's first football team, will join the Jeddawi club's camp in Marbella, Spain, on Tuesday, according to a special source for Al-Riyadiya. The same source stated that Bergwijn completed the final stage of his rehabilitation program in Amsterdam after suffering from a sprain of the internal knee ligament against Al-Khulood, in the semi-finals of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup last March 18. Al-Ittihad continues its preparations at its stadium on Sunday, under the leadership of its German coach Jens Wesing, as part of the first stage of the preparatory program for the new season, followed by a second stage that includes an external camp in Marbella until July 31. In Spain, Al-Ittihad will play three friendly matches, two against South Africa's Orlando Pirates and Spain's Las Palmas, while the third will be announced later. The Ittihad team opens its season with a match against UAE's Al Jazira at the latter's stadium in the capital Abu Dhabi on August 11, in the playoff qualifier for the AFC Champions League Elite. It is noteworthy that Al-Ittihad appointed its former star Hamad Al-Montashari as the director of the first football team, according to the official account on the social media platform 'X' on Saturday.
