Press reports revealed that Australian Ange Postecoglou, the current manager of Al-Nassr and former Celtic coach, has reached a preliminary agreement to sign a foreign midfielder, amid ongoing speculation about the future of Celtic captain Callum McGregor.

According to the Daily Record, McGregor has been linked in recent times with a move to Al-Qadsiah, which is managed by his former coach Brendan Rodgers, especially after the player moved to the same agency that represents Rodgers, but negotiations over this deal appear to be stalled at the moment.

The newspaper clarified that Postecoglou has identified two foreign names to bolster the midfield, as part of Al-Nassr's plan to compensate for the departure of Croatian Marcelo Brozovic, one of which is the Scottish Celtic player.

Postecoglou and McGregor share a special relationship dating back to their time together at Celtic, where they spent two successful seasons during which the team won five domestic titles, before the Australian coach moved to Tottenham in 2023.
