Egyptian Football Association announces renewal of Hossam Hassan's contract with Egypt national team.
Hani Abou Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, announced the approval of the association's board of directors to renew the contract with Hossam Hassan, head coach of the senior national team, and Ibrahim Hassan, team manager.
The Egyptian Football Association stated in an official statement on Wednesday that this step comes within the framework of the board's keenness to complete the technical project of the national team and build on the historical achievements of Egyptian football during the recent period.
The association's president clarified that the board of directors will complete the procedures for approving and renewing the contract during its next meeting, as soon as the national team delegation arrives home.
Hossam Hassan has been leading Egypt since early February 2024, and has led his country's team to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup without defeat.
In the Africa Cup of Nations, the Egyptian team finished fourth after losing to Nigeria on penalties in the bronze medal match.
As for the 2026 World Cup, the Pharaohs were eliminated in a dramatic 3-2 loss to Argentina on Tuesday in the Round of 16, marking Egypt's first appearance in the knockout stages in its World Cup history.
