Palace bolsters defense with La Masia graduate
English Premier League club Crystal Palace signed defender Oscar Mingueza from Spanish side Celta Vigo on Thursday on a four-year contract. Mingueza said in a statement: 'I am very excited to be here. It is a great honor to join Crystal Palace, and I look forward to seeing you at Selhurst Park.' Mingueza, born in Catalonia, began his career at the famous Barcelona academy 'La Masia' and played 66 matches for the first team after his debut in 2020, contributing to the team's Copa del Rey victory. The 27-year-old defender joined Crystal Palace after playing 147 matches for Celta Vigo, which he joined in 2022, bringing with him extensive experience at the highest levels and in European competitions to bolster coach Pierre Sage's squad. Internationally, the player has represented Spain in four matches, started in the 2025 UEFA Nations League final, and was included in the Europa League Team of the Season for 2025-2026 after helping Celta Vigo reach the quarter-finals.
