Barcelona, the Spanish La Liga football champion, completed the signing of German international striker Karim Adeyemi on Thursday for 5 years until summer 2031 from Borussia Dortmund.
The Catalan club said on its website: 'Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement on the transfer of striker Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalan club until 2031.'
Adeyemi, born in 2002 to a Nigerian father and Romanian mother, joined Dortmund in 2022 from Red Bull Salzburg, scoring 36 goals in 146 matches in all competitions over four seasons before his move to Barcelona.
Hansi Flick, Barcelona's current coach, was the first to give Adeyemi his debut for the German national team in 2021.
According to several reports, Borussia Dortmund will receive a transfer fee of 22 million euros for the sale of the player's contract, which was set to expire next season, and could rise to 31 million euros with bonuses, and the club will also benefit from any potential future sale.
Adeyemi, 24, becomes Barcelona's second signing after the acquisition of English international Anthony Gordon from Newcastle, while club officials are trying to sign Argentine Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.
