Official: Barcelona signs Karim Adeyemi

Spanish club Barcelona announced on Thursday its signing of German Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund.

Contract until 2031

The club said in a statement on its website: 'Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of striker Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalan club until 2031, reuniting with coach Hansi Flick, who gave him his first appearance with the German national team.'

Multi-position player

The statement added: 'Adeyemi was born in Munich on January 18, 2002 to a Nigerian father and Romanian mother, and brings to Barcelona an exciting attacking style, as he has shown his ability to play on both wings, as well as in central attack, combining exceptional speed with a strong left foot.'

Transfer fee

Barcelona did not disclose the transfer fee, but media reports stated that the club will pay 22 million euros to Borussia Dortmund, plus 7 million euros in incentives and variables, with the German club retaining 30% of any future transfer fees.

Barcelona's second summer signing

Adeyemi becomes Barcelona's second signing during the summer transfer window, after signing Anthony Gordon from English club Newcastle United.

Adeyemi's numbers with Dortmund

Adeyemi played 39 matches for Borussia Dortmund in various competitions last season, scoring 10 goals and providing 6 assists.
