Bayern President: Klopp is the right man to coach the German national team

Herbert Hainer, president of German football club Bayern Munich, believes that Jürgen Klopp is 'the right man' to put the German national team back on track after the team exited the World Cup early for the third consecutive time.

It is widely expected that next Friday, the former Liverpool coach will be announced as the new technical director of the German national team, replacing Julian Nagelsmann, who resigned after the team's round of 32 exit against Paraguay.

Despite the historic rivalry between Klopp and Bayern Munich, when he was coach of Borussia Dortmund, leading his team to win the Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012 at the expense of the Bavarian club, Hainer expressed his full confidence in the German coach's abilities.

Hainer told reporters on Wednesday: 'I think it's a good solution.'

He added: 'When you look at the team's performance in the last three World Cups, you realize that it now needs motivation and a sense of a new beginning.'

He continued: 'We have good players, and I think Jürgen Klopp is the perfect man. He has achieved great success with all the clubs he has worked with, whether Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, or Liverpool.'

Hainer affirmed that Klopp, 59, 'has always succeeded in winning over fans and players, and took the entire club with him at every stop, and I think he will do the same with the German national team.'

The Bayern Munich president described Klopp as 'a person skilled in dealing with others at all levels.'

The Bayern president added: 'He is able to convince people of his ideas, and he can instill enthusiasm and inspire the team to give more than 100 percent of their potential on the pitch.'

Since leaving Liverpool in May 2024, Klopp has served as head of Global Soccer at the Red Bull group, after announcing at the time his desire to take a break from coaching.

Klopp is expected to sign a contract with the German Football Association (DFB) that runs until the 2030 World Cup.
