Dr. Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), confirmed that the Egyptian Football Association's proposal to increase the number of teams participating in the CAF Champions League to three teams for top-ranked countries is currently being studied.

Motsepe said in a press conference held on Wednesday: 'The request is being discussed and studied by CAF's senior bodies, and a decision will be made that serves the best interests of African football.'

He added: 'African national teams delivered outstanding performances in the recent World Cup held in the United States and Mexico. Egypt performed excellently, as did Morocco and all the teams.'

He clarified: 'I am proud of the performances of African teams in the World Cup, and I believe the time is near for an African team to win the world title.'

He stressed that the Egyptian national team was leading Argentina by two goals until the last 15 minutes, and Morocco had a great tournament, indicating significant progress in African football.
