The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has put an end to the many rumors circulating on social media for several days regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final in Morocco.

According to French network Foot Mercato, citing Senegalese channel RTS, the court denied in an official statement having issued any ruling in favor of Senegal regarding the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco, stressing that proceedings are still ongoing and no decision has been made so far.

This clarification ends the false claims and misinformation that spread over the weekend, which suggested a final decision in favor of Senegal.

In its statement, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) urges the public not to rely on unofficial documents circulating online, and confirms that the case is still under review before a decision is announced in the prescribed manner.

Rumors have spread in recent days claiming that the Court of Arbitration for Sport recognized Senegal’s right to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title at the expense of Morocco, before this was categorically denied.

Senegal had beaten Morocco (1-0) in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final in January last year, but two months later, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revoked the title from Senegal and awarded it to Morocco, citing the withdrawal of the Teranga Lions players a few minutes into stoppage time due to a penalty awarded to the Atlas Lions.

The Senegalese federation filed a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport to reclaim the title, but it has not yet been officially decided.
