Brazilian Marcos Leonardo is close to closing the curtain on his stint with Saudi Al-Hilal, after completing all the basic steps preceding his transfer to Dutch Ajax Amsterdam, leaving only the official announcement before beginning a new chapter in his professional career.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiya revealed that Marcos Leonardo, Al-Hilal's striker, passed the medical examination successfully in preparation for joining Ajax, noting that the Dutch club will officially announce the player's signing of his new contract on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The newspaper added via its website that Al-Hilal and Ajax have already exchanged all official documents related to the deal, pending the completion of final procedures and the official announcement.

Al-Riyadiya had revealed on Sunday, citing a private source, that the two clubs reached a final agreement stipulating the transfer of the Brazilian striker to Ajax for about 20 million euros, to be paid in two installments.

Al-Hilal had signed Marcos Leonardo from Portuguese Benfica in January 2024 for about 40 million euros, with a contract extending for five years, before the club decided to approve his departure during the current transfer window.

During his stint with Al-Hilal, the Brazilian striker played 82 matches in various competitions, scoring 48 goals and providing 5 assists, leaving a clear attacking mark with the team.

It is worth noting that Spanish Atletico Madrid attempted to sign Marcos Leonardo on loan during the last winter transfer window, but the deal was not completed at that time, before Ajax now succeeded in finalizing his permanent signing.
