The management of Saudi Al Hilal Club succeeded in obtaining the signature of Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville coming from West Ham United, in a massive deal that is the most expensive in the leader's history during the current transfer window.

The Athletic confirmed that Summerville (24 years old) signed a four-year contract with Al Hilal, after successfully passing the medical examinations in the Dutch capital Amsterdam last Tuesday.

The deal was worth more than €70 million (£60 million), with €55 million as a fixed fee and €5 million in add-ons, according to The Athletic, which indicated that the deal was a top priority for the new management and sporting director Simon Francis coming from Bournemouth.

Al Hilal outperformed several major European clubs in the race, with Roma making an offer worth €46 million, while Manchester United inquired about the player's status and Aston Villa showed interest in signing him, but Al Hilal's offer settled the matter.

Summerville's departure from West Ham was expected after the team was relegated to the English second division (the Championship), although his contract extended until 2029. The Dutch winger had joined West Ham in 2024 from Leeds United, and played 56 matches for them, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists in last season alone.

On the international level, Summerville put in a notable performance with the Netherlands national team in the World Cup this summer, scoring two goals and providing two assists in 4 matches before elimination on penalties against Morocco in the round of 32.
