Dream Turned into Nightmare.. Has Al-Ahli Saudi's Anticipated Deal Stalled?
Al-Ahli Saudi have received a strong blow in their attempts to strengthen the team's squad during the current summer transfer window, as one of the most prominent deals requested by German coach Matthias Jaissle has become threatened with stalling before the start of the new season.
Al-Ahli have so far succeeded in completing three summer deals, having signed Armenian midfielder Eduard Spertsian from Russian club Krasnodar, Gambian defender Abubakr Sidi Kinteh from Norwegian Tromsø, in addition to Mishal Al-Mutairi from Abha.
According to Portuguese newspaper 'A Bola', the deal to sign Sporting Lisbon star Francisco Trincão faces some obstacles that threaten its completion in the coming period, despite Al-Ahli's strong desire to sign the player.
The newspaper explained that Al-Ahli's management reached an agreement with Sporting Lisbon regarding Trincão's transfer, but the player's own stance represents the biggest obstacle to completing the deal, as the Saudi club has not yet obtained his final approval.

It also indicated that some details related to the contract and the player's desire to determine his next step could complicate negotiations, raising question marks over Al-Ahli's ability to finalize the deal they were banking on heavily.
Trincão was one of the most prominent names requested by Matthias Jaissle to strengthen the team's attacking side, given the Portuguese player's technical abilities and vast experience in European competitions.
Al-Ahli's management seeks to continue strengthening the squad before the start of the new season, but the Trincão file has now become a real test of the club's ability to convince the player and turn the agreement with Sporting Lisbon into a completed deal.
