Portuguese press reports have revealed that Colombian striker Jhon Durán is close to leaving Al-Nassr, amidst renewed interest from Benfica in signing him during the current summer transfer window.

Portuguese newspaper Record reported that Benfica's management is preparing to finalize a deal for a new striker within the next week, noting that Jhon Durán has returned strongly to the list of candidates to reinforce the frontline.

The newspaper confirmed that Benfica's transfer market has not closed yet, as the management continues to work on strengthening the squad, not only in defense but also in the striker position, which has become a priority before the start of the new season.

It added that Jhon Durán's name has returned to the negotiation table after renewed interest from the Portuguese club in his services, making him one of the most prominent options available to the management.

Jhon Durán's journey with Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr had signed Jhon Durán during the winter transfer window in January 2025, coming from English club Aston Villa, on a contract extending until the summer of 2030.

After several months, the player moved to Turkish club Fenerbahçe on loan during the summer of 2025, before moving again to Russian club Zenit Saint Petersburg on a loan deal extending until the end of the 2026 season.

Jhon Durán played 18 matches with Al-Nassr in various competitions, scoring 12 goals.
