Spain coach Luis de la Fuente described the behavior of Argentine players after the 2026 World Cup final, held last Sunday in East Rutherford, near New York, as 'unacceptable'.

Several Argentine players and technical staff members, whose team lost the final 0-1 after extra time and thus relinquished the title, attacked their Spanish counterparts after the final whistle, including Atletico Madrid defender Nahuel Molina and former Paris Saint-Germain player Leandro Paredes, without facing any sanctions.

De la Fuente said in an interview with Spanish public television: 'At that moment, I didn't realize what happened. I was celebrating and hugging people... But in any case, it is unacceptable and intolerable behavior. Such actions cannot be allowed, especially from players of this stature, from great players whom I have never stopped praising.'

The 'La Roja' coach emphasized the exemplary behavior of his players in the face of these 'attacks' and 'provocations', which could have led to more serious incidents.

Despite these scenes being documented on video and widely shared on social media, they have not, at least so far, led to any sanctions against the Argentine players.
