A new star from Real Madrid has opened the door to representing Morocco in the near future, which is good news for the Atlas Lions.

Morocco has successfully utilized players born abroad, particularly those raised in Spain, with Achraf Hakimi and Ibrahim Diaz currently shining in its ranks.

Now Morocco is close to adding another player in the same manner from Real Madrid: Tiago Pitarch.

The young Real Madrid midfielder's paternal grandfather is of Moroccan origin, allowing him to play for the Atlas Lions. When asked by Cadena SER radio on Thursday about his choice of national team for the future, he did not rule out Morocco.

Tiago said: 'First, we need to win on Saturday, and what comes in the future, which is still far away, will come. That's all there is to it.'

The midfielder added: 'I see it as very far away. First, here with the U-19 team, and what will come will come.'

Pitarch is currently with the Spanish youth national team and will face Germany in the final next week.

Despite representing Spain at youth levels, Tiago has not closed the door on the Moroccan national team, leaving the possibility open.
