Atlético Madrid has achieved an exceptional feat ahead of the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, as the club has become the most represented in the World Cup final for the third consecutive time.

According to France 24 citing Agence France-Presse, Atlético Madrid, led by Argentine coach Diego Simeone, will be the most represented club in the World Cup final.

The Madrid club has 9 players under contract with it in the two national teams: the Argentine sextet of Julián Álvarez, Thiago Almada, Nahuel Molina, Juan Musso, Giuliano Simeone, and Nico González (whose loan from Juventus has ended).

In addition to the Spanish quartet of Álex Baena, Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill, and Alejandro Grimaldo (who officially joined the club on June 30 last year from Bayer Leverkusen during the World Cup competition).

With the exclusion of Nico González due to the end of his loan and Grimaldo counted among the team's players, the number of Atlético Madrid representatives in the final reaches 9.

The club confirmed on its official website that it has become 'the club with the most players represented in a World Cup final since the 1934 Italy edition.'
