French Embassy Bans Argentine Satirist
The French Embassy in Buenos Aires on Sunday classified a deputy governor of an Argentine province as 'persona non grata' within its premises or in bilateral cooperation, following a post in which the official called the French national team 'an ill-mannered African team'. Hebe Casado, deputy governor of the wealthy western province of Mendoza, posted on X after the France-Paraguay match in the 2026 World Cup a sarcastic message saying: 'Well done Paraguay... the African team with no manners... I can't stand France star Kylian Mbappé.' Romain Nadal, the French ambassador to Argentina, condemned these statements, which 'undoubtedly have a racist character' and 'disqualify the deputy governor from working with the embassy or participating in meetings where the embassy is present', according to AFP. He added: 'There is no place for racism in French-Argentine cooperation.'
