The number 92 has become the hallmark of the Argentine national team in its journey to the final match of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Argentine national team qualified for the 2026 World Cup final after defeating England 2-1 on Wednesday at the Atlanta stadium in the semi-final.

The Latin American team booked its place in the second consecutive final in a dramatic scenario, after turning a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 victory in less than 10 minutes.

While Enzo Fernández scored the equalizer in the 85th minute, the winning goal came from Lautaro Martínez in the second minute of stoppage time (92nd minute), after he headed a cross from Lionel Messi into the net.

Lautaro repeated what his teammate Enzo Fernández had done eight days earlier, specifically the Tuesday before last, during the match against Egypt in the Round of 16 of the World Cup.

While the score was tied 2-2, Enzo scored the winning goal in the second minute of stoppage time (92nd minute), after heading a cross from Lautaro Martínez into the net.

It is worth noting that the Argentine national team is playing the World Cup final for the second consecutive time, after playing the 2022 World Cup final in Qatar, when it won the title against France.
