Gavi, Spain midfielder, does not want Argentina's Leandro Paredes to be suspended following a scuffle between them that broke out after the World Cup final.

Paredes, with the help of his teammate Nahuel Molina and Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala, scuffled with Gavi seconds after the end of the match which ended with Spain winning 1-0 at MetLife Stadium.

The International Football Federation (FIFA) announced that Paredes was not sent off on the field, but on Monday it decided to open an investigation into a potential violation of FIFA's disciplinary regulations during this scuffle.

For his part, Gavi said via the radio show 'El Partidazo de COPE': 'I don't support suspending Paredes. I know that what he did doesn't set a good example for children, but violence and strength are part of football.'

The Barcelona player added: 'Paredes deserved to be sent off during the match, but in the end this is football, and what happened should not be taken out of context.'

Paredes grabbed Spanish player Eric García by the neck and then knocked Gavi to the ground.

It was also rumored that the crisis erupted after Molina attacked Spain captain Rodri, while Ayala punched Spanish player Dani Olmo in the face.

Before these events, Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernández was sent off in stoppage time of the second half for receiving a second yellow card after a violent challenge against young Spanish defender Pau Cubarsí.
